Reports that Germany had confiscated American Red Cross supplies and funds are completely groundless, Norman H. Davis, chairman of the American Red Cross, said today.
He assured contributors to the war relief fund that the “Red Cross does not intend to engage in any relief program without adequate control over its operations or without ample consideration of the wishes of those who have contributed so generously.”
Davis said the A.R.C. had established an efficient relief organization in France but was not at present conducting any relief work in German-occupied France except in Paris and its immediate vicinity.
