Defense Minister Moshe Dayan told the Knesset today that 136 soldiers were still missing on the Egyptian front. Searches by army chaplaincy squads together with Egyptian men and Red Cross delegates were continuing he said, answering parliamentary questions. By this week, 243 bodies had been returned from that front, Dayan said, 104 by the Egyptian army–exhumed from temporary burial grounds–and 139 which had been located by the mixed search squads. Dayan said there was full cooperation between the two sides and each tried to fulfill the other’s requests on return of bodies. He hoped it would be possible to make similar arrangements with Syria–but so far the contacts with the Syrians through the Red Cross had been unsatisfactory.
