The death has taken place here of Professor Oskar Minkowski, the famous physician.
Professor Minkowsky was born in Kovno, in 1858. After working at Koenigsberg, Strasbourg and Cologne, he went to Breslau, where he was from 1919 to 1926 Professor of Internal Medicine. In association with Mering he discovered pancreas diabetes and paved the way to the discovery of insulin. He was not identified with Jewish life but never denied that he was a Jew.
