Death threats were employed by Nazis here in getting information about Germans in Switzerland, it was revealed today at the trial of Dr. Alfred Zander, self-styled Swiss “Fuehrer” and seven co-defendants charged with treason, espionage and a plot to nazify Switzerland.
Hans Stuz, a motion picture operator, said on the witness stand that he had been obligated to dispatch to Germany baseless denunciations of various German motion picture representatives in order to safeguard his own life against Nazi threats. Stuz, one of the accused, was a member of Dr. Zander’s “League of Faithful Confederates.” Another witness testified that he had been entrusted with the task of spying on various consulates, checking on the number of Jews who visited them.
