American Jews should stop “glorifying the Stone Age of Judaism” and cease drawing from “the bank account of the spiritual past without adding something to that account in the present,” according to Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein of the Institutional Synagogue, who expressed this opinion at the dedication ceremonies of the new building of the Young Israel Synagogue on Sunday.
Congressman Samuel Dickstein, who also spoke at the ceremonies, expressed opposition to the registration and finger print bill now before Congress, which would provide for the finger printing of about seven million aliens who, he declared, had been living in the United States for twenty or thirty years.
