Comptroller Joseph P. McGoldrick, representing Mayor LaGuardia, was the principal speaker at the dedication exercises yesterday afternoon of the new Max Blumberg Pavilion, six-story addition to the Jewish Sanitarium for Incurables, East Forty-ninth street and Rutland road, Brooklyn.
Recalling the promise made to Peter Stuyvesant by the original Jewish settlers of New York that the Jews would always care for their own, Mr. McGoldrick said:
“That promise has been fulfilled and the dedication of this institution is another example of it.”
With the new building added to the old four-story building, the institution will be able to care for 525 patients when it is completely equipped. About 2,500 persons attended the dedicatory exercise. Max Blumberg, president of the hospital, presided. His son, State Senator George Blumberg, introduced Mr. McGoldrick. Lawton Brown, representing Borough President Raymond V. Ingersoll, attended the ceremonies. A telegram was received from Governor Herbert H. Lehman.
