The name “Rathenau” has been effaced and the figure of Rathenau has been marred, it was found today upon examining the monument with stands on the “Hohensteinberg” for the three German post-war statesmen, Ebert, Rathenau and Erzberger.

The Berlin criminal police are convinced that anti-Semitic hoodlums, members of the National Socialist Pary, committed the act of vandalism. Walther Rathenau, a Jew, was German Minister of Foreign Affairs after the war.
