The Israeli chess team has won a 4-0 victory by default over Albania at the world championship chess tournament in Skopje, Yugoslavia. The Israeli team was credited with the win after the Albanian team informed the tournament management that it was forbidden by their government to play the Israelis. The tournament management said the Albanian players were not to blame because they had “their orders from above.” But other competing teams protested against awarding the victory to Israel because it puts the Israelis ahead of them on unearned points.
