Defense counsel Horace Samuel today completed his six-day cross-examination of Abdul Mejid, arab convict who confessed that he had killed Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff.

He made the witness admit that Prosecutor Shitrit had pointed out to him many contradictions in his story, as compared to the story told earlier by Mrs. Sima Arlosoroff, widow of the murdered man. In his second confession, Abdul Mejis declared that Abraham #avsky and Zvi Rosenblatt, two of the men held for the murder, had offered him £1,000 (approximately $5,000) to confess to the killing.

Samuel demanded the appearance in court of Issa Darwish, another Arab convict alleged to have acted as a go-between in the affair. However, Magistrate Ralph Bodilly agreed with the prosecution that first the prosecution witnesses be heard to show the incompleteness of Abdul Mejid’s asertions, and that Stavsky and Rosenblatt might then testify for the defense.
