The burden of supporting the defense establishment of Israel will grow heavier in the near future, rather than lighter, because Israel is facing a serious situation and must prepare itself, Pinchas Lavon. Defense Minister, declared at a meeting of the Keren Hayesod here today.
Mr. Lavon noted that the Arabs were being reinforced by arms shipments from abroad at the very time when economic aid to Israel was being cut. He expressed gratitude for the statement by British Foreign Secretary Sir Anthony Eden that Britain would said Israel if the Arabs attacked, but noted that Israel should not be in a position to have to call on any other nation to defend it against attack.
