Two special trains of twenty-four cars rolled into San Francisco late yesterday afternoon bringing 500 delegates to the convention of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. They were greeted by a delegation of leaders of local Jewry, headed by Rabbi Louis I. Newman and Rabbi Jacob Nieto of the local Reform congregations.
Special services were held in the synagogues last night and this morning with visiting rabbis in the pulpits. Registration of delegates and meetings of committees will start on Sunday. The Hotel St. Francis is the headquarters for the delegates. The sessions of the convention will be held at Temple Emanu-El.
