Forty-five delegates from 13 African and Asian countries today opened a three-month seminar in Israel where they will study agricultural cooperatives, industry, banking, public services, and marketing.
The seminar is an outgrowth of the visit to West Africa last year by Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister. Israel invited all African and Asian countries. The seminary was boycotted by the Moslem countries of the Middle East and North Africa, but Far Eastern, South Asian and African states are participating.
Reuben Barkatt, chief of the political department of the Israel Federation of Labor, officially greeted the delegates. The first lecture, dealing with the international cooperative movement, was delivered by Prof. M. Einfeld.
