A delegation of the International Atomic Energy Commission is scheduled to arrive in Israel next week, it was announced today.
The delegation, which is on a tour of Mediterranean and African countries, will remain in Israel for three days, visiting scientific institutions and hospitals using atomic by-products. The delegation also will visit Israel’s first nuclear reactor now nearing completion.
Delegation members also will confer with Foreign Ministry officials. One of the tasks of the delegation is to prepare recommendations for the location of a Middle East and African isotope center for which both the United Arab Republic and Turkey are bidding, Israel and a number of other countries were understood to oppose Egypt as the site.
