Confidence that the democracies will win out over the totalitarian powers and the necessity to “strike hard and leave the breaking to the other side” were stressed today by Prof. Albert Einstein.

Explaining his conversion from his former policy of pacifism, Dr. Einstein stated: “In the Twenties, when no dictatorships existed. I advocated that refusing would mean making war improper. As soon as conditions came about that in certain states there was so much coercion that this method could not be employed, I felt that it would weaken the less-aggressive nations in the face of the more aggressive.”
