Protest demonstrations are reported to have broken out in several Norwegian towns as the result of the deportation of more than 1,000 Norwegian Jews last week on a Nazi prison ship, which, according to a report reaching here yesterday, was foundering in a storm off Denmark. Spontaneous – outbursts occurred in Trondheim and in Toensberg, despite the fact that the Norwegian press was forbidden to mention the deportations.
At the same time it is reported that many members of the Norwegian Nazi party are resigning in disgust at the deportations, despite the fact that they have been threatened with reprisals.
