Denials published in the Jugoslavian papers which arrived here today called forth the suspicion that incidents of a serious character may have occurred in Banat villages in connection with the ritual murder agitation.
The denial declares that the rumors concerning serious anti-Jewish pogroms in Banat were unfounded. Similarly, the papers deny that a rabbi and several deading Jews of Petrovoselos, near Zenter where the agitation arose, were murdered. The newspapers admit, however, that the “agitation of the frenzied villagers against the Jews in the region continues.”
The correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Zagreb, Jugoslavia, was instructed immediately to proceed to the scene of the events to ascertain the facts.
