Denmark will insist that Germany lift the ban on kosher meat imports before signing the trade agreement now being negotiated between the two countries, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency has been informed by Dr. Friediger, chief rabbi of Copenhagen.
Dr. Friediger said that Denmark would demand inclusion in the pact of a definite quota of kosher meat exports from this country to Reich.
Jewish public institutions in Germany are being supplied with Danish kosher meat despite Germany’s recent ban, Rabbi Friediger explained.
He added that before the ban Denmark was the chief source of kosher meat for Germany, kosher slaughtering in the Reich having been prohibited in the early days of the Nazi regime.
