The report of the “Moment,” on February 20th, that all four Jews, arrested in connection with the death of Jan Grotkowski, the Christian student whose death led to serious anti-Semitic riots in Poland last November, had been released, was termed incorrect today.
Only one of the four accused has been released, as reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on February 17th. The released Jew is S. Keller, a worker, who had been kept in prison for two and one half months.
The other three, M. Katz, N. Schmer and Isaac Tune, who were arrested immediately after Grotkowski’s death on November 27th at Lvov, will come up for trial at the end of March. They have been kept in prison throughout the period of their arrest.
It was reported by the Warsaw “Moment” on Monday, that all four of the Jewish accused had been released because a Christian youth had been arrested on charges of having caused Grotkowski’s death.
Grotkowski succumbed to knife wounds received when he and five drunken companions returning from an all night party engaged in a drunken brawl with Jewish passersby.
