Jewish sources here denied today any knowledge of a group calling itself, “The New Combatants,” which has threatened immediate reprisals against any act of Arab terrorism carried out in Belgium. Reports of formation of such a group were published in the Belgian press after the Belgian Press Service, Agence Belga, received an anonymous “communique” from the purported group.
David Susskind, president of the Coordinating Committee of Belgian Jewish Organizations, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that such a movement “could only be a provocation. We are opposed to all forms of terrorism.”
The Dutch daily, Algemeen Dagblad” reported today in Amsterdam that there were indications that Arab terrorists were trying to organize supporting groups in Holland and were using Arab workers in Amsterdam as contacts. A Copenhagen police spokesman said police raided all Copenhagen hotels last night in a search for Arab agents or terrorists but that no arrests were made.
The police also reported that explosives were found in a car of two Norwegians who were stopped and searched in downtown Copenhagen. The police said they had no information as to whether there was any connection between the Norwegians and the Arab terrorists.
