Letters to Palestine bring encouraging details of the life of the refugees deported from the Holy Land to the British island colony of Mauritius, off the coast of Madagascar.
The Mauritius Jewish community warmly received the refugees, part of whom live in private homes and the rest in a camp. The Government assigned £3 monthly per person for maintenance. The refugees are allowed to exercise trades. The Rhodesia Jewish community distributed among the refugees £4,500, which was the proceeds of a benefit social function.
