The Deputy speaker of the Canadian Parliament, Armon Laverne, sprang a sensational surprise today, by upholding the anti-Jewish allegations of the anti-Semitic French-Canadian Goglu Organization. Mr. Laverne even approved of their accusation that Jews commit ritual murders, according to a report in the “Canadian Jewish Eagle.”
This approval of the Goglu methods against Jews, is voiced, according to the “Eagle,” in an article which the Deputy speaker of the Canadian Parliament published in the chief organ of the Goglu Organization, “Le Miroir.” Mr. Laverne takes issue with Judge Dejeanu, who in the proceedings against the Goglu publications condemned their anti-Jewish agitation.
Although he begins his article with the assuranc that he is not and never was an anti-Semite, the Deputy speaker rebukes Judge Dejeanu for not believing that Jews use Christian blood for ritual purposes. Mr. Laverne states that a Pope has confirmed that the Jews use Christian blood, by the fact that he has conferred sainthood on one of the martyrs of a ritual murder. Mr. Laverne takes sides with the Goglus and affirms they are providing a “defense fight against the Jews” and that the Jews in Canada have not equal rights with the Christians, since Christendom is part of the Canadian constitution.
The same issue of “Le Miroir” devotes space to an article against the Montreal Jewish Alderman Bernard Schwartz, making the accusation that Mr. Schwartz threatened to kill the editor of “Le Miroir” and to use his blood for ritual purposes on the Jewish Easter holidays.
