“The only country in the Middle East which is not for sale to Russia is Israel, “Aryeh Ben-Eliezer, Deputy Speaker of the Israel Parliament, who is now visiting the United States, declared today at a press conference here arranged by the United Zionists-Revisionists of America. He charged that the Russians do not mind if their arms destroy Israel.”
“Israel,” Mr. Ben Eliezer said, “is the only bastion of-democracy in the Middle East. By making her strong, by making her big, Israel will be able to contribute in peace as well as in war, to stop the communists in their new schemes of penetration in the Middle East and Africa. It is our aim to bring about a real peace between us and the Arab states. This can only be achieved when both sides fully recognize the right of each nation to exist and live independently within its respective national borders. This will come about when the Arab governments become convinced once and for all that they stand no chance of destroying Israel in a war.”
