The board of governors of the Jewish Welfare Federation has voted to contribute $1,000 for emergency aid to the people of Biafra, according to Morton Bookey, president, and Donald L. Gartner, executive director. The gift was made in response to formation of the American Jewish Agency Effort for Biafran Relief, a committee organized by 22 major Jewish organizations, in cooperation with the Catholic Relief Service, Church World Service and the United States Committee for UNICEF. The Federation contribution will come from reserve funds, the officials said.
