The Evening Standard, commenting editorially, today describes Sir Herbert Samuel as both an optimist and an amateur philosopher.
“At Manchester last week he proved his optimism,” the newspaper says, “by proclaiming his belief in the survival of the Liberal racehorse.
“Now he has written a book on ethics, which is shortly to be published. The title has not yet been fixed but may be ‘Problems of Conduct.’
“Sir Herbert has long been a keen amateur philosopher. Last year he published a pamphlet on the same subject called ‘The Tree of Good and Evil.'”
