Despairing German Jewry is confronted with an increasing number of Jewish suicides, due not only to impoverishment but to the intolerable campaign of defamation.

This assertion is made by Rabbi Max Eschelbacher of Duesseldorf, writing in the local press, who describes the emotional distress of German Jewry resulting from anti-Semitism.

Gas, veronal and firearms are used as the instruments of suicide, he declares.
