Despite denials by the British Colonial Office in London that any changes are contemplated, the newspapers in Iraq persist in stating that the British government has decided to transfer the Palestine High Commissioner to Iraq as Minister in order to modify the present administrative system of Palestine.
The Iraqian press declares that Emir Abdullah, brother of the late King Feisal of Iraq, who now rules Transjordania, will be made king of Palestine and Transjordania, which will be united into one kingdom.
Emir Abdullah, who is to pay a visit to London in June, has been holding a series of conferences in Amman, capital of Transjordania, with Arab notables from Palestine and neighboring countries. The Arab press in Palestine interpreted the visit to London and the conference at Amman, as evidence that the Emir is to be made king of Palestine and Transjordania. These rumors were also denied emphatically by the British Colonial Office which explained that the visit of the Emir to London was merely one of courtesy.
