Despite his participation in the negotiations leading up to the land-for- security agreement, it remains unclear whether hawkish Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon would support the accord in a vote by the Israeli Cabinet. Sharon issued a statement that the agreement contained “important achievements” for Israel. But at the same time, the statement said Sharon still believed that a 13 percent further Israeli redeployment in the West Bank was dangerous.
