Two large bequests, one of $225,000 and the other amounting to $150,000, have been left to the United Jewish Charities while another gift has been made, comprising a large property to be used as camp site by affiliated Jewish recreation agencies, it was announced here by Max J. Zivian, president of the United Jewish Charities.
The bequests, he said, are from the estates of the late Justice Henry M. Butzel, amounting to $150,000; and from the estate of the late Judge Charles C. Simons, totaling $225,000. The estate, a 79-acre property in northern Michigan, including buildings and furnishings, was given by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Levy. The campsite is known as Camp Kennedy. At the annual meeting of the UJC, Mr. Zivian announced that this would be his last year of service as president, a post he has held for five years. Mr. Sivian and Alfred L. Deutsch were named as members of the board of directors for three-year terms.
