The Greater Detroit B’nai B’rith Council has lodged a protest with the Jewish Community Council against the action taken by the Council withdrawing from co-sponsorship of the visit to Detroit of Mayor Ernst Reuter of West Berlin.

Dr. Reuter, who is now en route to the United States as a guest of the State Department, will visit a number of cities throughout the country. The Jewish Community Council had originally accepted co-sponsorship of his Detroit visit, but subsequently withdrew. In its protest to the Council, the B’nai B’rith pointed out that Dr. Reuter, as an anti-Nazi and anti-Communist, represented one of the strong hopes for a democratic Germany.
