Nate S. Shapero, former president of the Jewish Centers Association and a member of the governing board of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit, automatically became president of the Detroit Fire Commission.
Shapero was appointed a member of the Commission Friday. By virtue of the ruling which names as commission head the member whose term expires first, Shapero stepped into the presidency.
