The Detroit chapter of the American Technion Society announced today plans to establish a food technology building at the Haifa Institute of Technology in memory of Leon Kay, a veteran Zionist leader, who died here at the age of 85.
Mr. Kay was a national vice-president of the Zionist Organization and of the American Technion Society. He was a former president of the Jewish National Fund Council of Detroit and was active in the Israel bond drive. He visited Israel twice each year since its establishment. Born in Russia, he came to the United States as a young man and earned a degree in chemical engineering at Ohio State University. He was a founder of the Keystone Oil Refining Company of Detroit.
