A gift of $60, 000 for the establishment of a project in Israel to honor his wife, Emma, was announced here by Morris Schaver, well known Detroit Labor Zionist leader, at a testimonial dinner given him on the occasion of his 60th birthday. More than 600 persons were present at the affair. Details of the project were not announced.
In announcing the gift, Mr. Schaver followed a precedent he set on his 50th birthday when he announced a $50, 000 gift for Israel, Among the speakers at the affair were Avraham Harmon, Consul General of Israel in New York, Meyer Brown and Baruch Zuckerman, Labor Zionist leaders, and Isaac Hamlin, national secretary of the Histadrut Campaign of America, who presented Mr. Schaver with a plaque testifying to his years of service to the cause of Israel.
