The Detroit Jewish community is showing signs of a return to normal in the present display of enthusiasm which marks the Allied Jewish Campaign for $270,000.
Announcing a subscription of $157,374, or fifty-eight per cent of the quota, on the first day leaders have indicated that there is every chance that the entire quota will be raised.
At a dinner opening the campaign speakers included Rabbi Leon Feuer of Toledo, Simon Shetzer, president of the Detroit Wholesale Merchants Bureau, and Mrs. Joseph H. Ehrlich, president of the Detroit Service Group. Fred M. Butzel, general chairman of the campaign, presided. Reports were submitted by Henry Wineman, chairman of the pre-campaign solicitation division, and Clarence H. Enggrass, chairman of the general division.
