Dr. George Wise, president of Tel Aviv University, announced here today that the institution’s board of directors has approved a development budget totaling 43,000,000 Israeli pounds ($14,333,000). He announced also that negotiations were formally begun today with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the absorption of the Tel Aviv branches of the Jerusalem institution by the Tel Aviv University.
Dr. Wise, as well as Tel Aviv Mayor Mordechai Namir, are departing for the United States to advance the university’s fund-raising campaign. It was understood that 31,000,000 Israeli pounds ($10,333,000) has already been assured toward the development budget, and that the drive in the United States would cover the remaining sums. The university also announced today that Prof. Yuval Neeman has been named permanent vice-president.
