Reverent McDowell, a former missionary in Mesppotamia, came before the House Immigration Committee yesterday to plead the cause of the two hundred thousand Christian Assyrians, whom he declared, have been cruelly persecuted by the Mohammedans. He urged that these surviving Assyrians be taken out of the prohibited class of Asiatics, and that a special quota be instituted to permit all those Christian Assyrians who desire be permitted enter this country.

McDowell was interrupted by Congressman Free of California a member of the Committee, who remarked that he had lived among these Assyrians but preferred to live among rats, and he did not care if they were all exterminated, they should never be admitted to the United States.
