Congressman Samuel Dickstein left for Washington last night to confer with former Senator Thomas W. Hardwick, counsel to the special Congressional committee to investigate un-American activities, on the legal procedure necessary to nullify the recently granted state charter to the “Friends of New Germany.” Two additional members of the committee are expected at the conference.
In the meantime Dickstein has sent an aide to Albany to procure a photostatic copy of the papers filed by the “Friends.”
Previously as chairman of the special committee’s sub-committee, he had written to Secretary of State Edward Flynn protesting against granting the charter to the local Nazi organization and demanding that it be rejected. Beyond formal acknowledgement of receipt of the letter, no action has been taken by the Secretary of State.
