Representative Samuel Dickstein yesterday stated that he was unequivocally opposed to Communism “or any other ‘ism’ which seeks to destroy American ideals and standards.”
He made this statement on the eve of the opening of hearings on a series of bills designed to restrict further immigration into the United States. The Dickstein statement was directed at the Order of ’76 and the Silver Shirts, two organizations which are opposed to Communism, but which, according to the House member, sponsor Hitlerism in the United States.
