A plea for the support of his proposed act to bar alien actors from the American stage and screen was made by Congressman Samuel Dickstein last night in a talk over a National Broadcasting Company network.
“There are sufficient men and women in America who are able to appear in dramatic and screen productions, and who find themselves unemployed because of the many foreign so-called ‘artists’ taking their places,” he said. “Our own actors and actresses find it exceedingly difficult to find employment abroad. Why take away from them our own stage and screen for useful employment in the United States?”
