Lieut.-Gen. John Greer Dill, commander-in-chief of the British expeditionary force in Palestine, will remain in the Holy Land with his staff until the beginning of next Summer, it was learned today.
Of the original force which had been mobilized to quell the 1936 Arab disorders, eight battalions still remain. These have been placed in strategic parts of the country in such a way as to make unnecessary additional reinforcements in the event of a renewal of disorders.
Should the disorders, which were terminated last October after six months, be renewed, it is confidently felt in informed quarters that martial law would be immediately imposed.
