Israeli Ambassador Simcha Dinitz met with President Carter, Vice-President Walter Mondale and National Security Affairs advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski today preparatory to his departure next week to confer with Israeli Premier Menachem Begin. The Israeli Embassy said that during the talks at the White House “matters common to both countries were raised mainly in relation” to Dinitz’s Jerusalem consultations.
The Embassy said that in his meeting with the President, Dinitz conveyed verbally “warm wishes” from the Premier while the President in turn expressed “warm wishes and congratulations” be conveyed to Begin and that he awaits their meetings in Washington July 19-20. Carter stressed the friendship between Israel and the United States and their striving for common goals. (By Joseph Polakoff)
