Catholics, Jews and Protestants will dine together in the Hotel Roosevelt next Thursday evening, January 31, when the Seminar of the National Conference of Jews and Christians closes its two-day meeting at Columbia University. Protestant-Cathotic and Christian-Jewish relations will be frankly dealt with. Previous to the dinner, the relations of the religious will be discussed during four sessions at Columbia University. The dinner speakers will be Hon. Martin Conboy, who will deal with the privileges and responsibilities of religious liberty; Rabbi David Philipson, of Cincinnati, on the contribution of religious universities to American civilization; and President Edward D. Soper, Ohio Wesleyan University, describing our moral obligations to be intelligent about religions other that one’s own, Professor Carleton J. H. Hayes. historian of our times Hom. George W. President Nicholas Murray Butler chairman of the Seminar Committee will open the proceedings, 10 A. M. Wednesday. January 30, with an address in Earl Hall Columbia. Mrs. Estelle M. Sternberger, Executive Secretary of the National Council of Jewish Women; Father J. Elliot Ross, Catholic Chaplain at Columbia University: Mr. Joseph C. Walsh Professor H. B. Home and Rev. C. E. Silcox have planned the agenda for the round-tables, and called experts in the various fields.
These round-table discussions will study unistepresentation of religious beliefs and practices; political and social antagonists; and vocational adjustments. The co-chairmen of the National Conference are Newton D. Baker, Carleton J. H. Hayes, and Roger W. Straus. Horace F. Howland of the Farmers Loan & Trust is treasurer Everett R. Cinchy is director.
