“Diplomatic and consular relations will be established between Israel and Peru,” Abraham Drapkin, chief of the Latin American division of the Israel Foreign Ministry, declared here following a visit to this country and immediately prior to his departure for Bolivia.
The establishment of such relations, he added, was “agreed to in principle in the course of my conversations with the Peruvian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Contralmirante Ernesto Rodriguez. I was happy to inform the Minister and other officials of the Peruvian Government of the progress made by the Jewish state, and further explain the sincere interest of the Israel Government in safeguarding the spiritual value represented by the Holy Places in Jerusalem.”
