Diplomats representing Israel and Norway as well as commercial representatives accredited to the European Common Market, joined a large crowd here today in an official welcome to a new Israeli ship, the 9,072-ton fruit carrier Lemon Core, which docked in this port after delivering a cargo of citrus fruit at Rotterdam.
The Lemon Core, a motor ship, had been built in Norway and is the first of a fleet of six such vessels to be put into operation within the next half-year. The ships will be used for the transport of Israeli products, chiefly citrus, from Haifa to European, Canadian and United States ports. The fleet has been organized by the Maritime Fruit Carrier Company. Ltd., of Haifa.
