Discovery of the tomb of a Sumerian queen, apparently left undisturbed by vandals who plundered her royal husband’s grave nearly 5,000 years ago, has given to the Joint Expedition of the Museum of the University of Pennsyvania and the British Museums the richest treasures thus far found in Ur of the Chaldees, a report received by the University of Pennsylvania from Ur reveals.
The discoveries have thrown new light on the early civilization and art of the Sumerians, the report states.
