Discuss Needs of Modern Jewish Education at Alliance’s School Parley

The needs of modern Jewish education and the unity of the Jewish school movement were stressed by speakers at the convention of the Yiddish schools of the Jewish National Workers’ Alliance and the Poale Zion which is meeting here. Delegates are in attendance from all parts of the United States and Canada. The keynote address was delivered by J. Eutin who told of the last convention held in Syracuse twelve years ago. Other speakers were S. Shapiro of New York, Solomon Weisman of Montreal, Abraham Rhinewine of Toronto, Berl Locker of New York. They dicussed the various problems of educational work.

H. Ehrenreich in his annual report on the school situation told the convention that the Alliance now has fifty schools, the best of which are in Canada and Philadelphia. Four thousand children obtain their education in these schools. The report expressed the readiness of the Alliance to cooperate with other Jewish school movements in certain types of work. Mr. Ehrenreich praised the magazine “Kinderwelt” published by the children of the Alliance’s schools and announced that new publications, among them a text book by Solomon Weisman, are being considered.
