A conflict has arisen between the usual contractor for the baking of unleavened bread, who employs specialists in the preparation of Matzoth, and the union of bakers, composed mainly of Greeks, who demand that only its members should be employed for this work. As a result of this conflict the work suffered considerable interruption. The authorities have intervened and an arrangement has been reached by which 12 union workers are to be employed. The bakers’ union is nevertheless continuing its agitation, insisting that only members of its union be employed.
