Dissatisfaction with the attitude of the Palestine government toward the question of Jewish participation in the Palestine military force continued, notwithstanding the new statement published by the government on the matter.
At an executive session of the Vaad Leumi, the National Council of Palestine Jews, at which Dr. Weizmann was present, the new government statement was severely criticized.
Speakers at the session stressed the point that the statement is unsatisfactory in view of the fact that the Palestine frontier force has been practically completed and therefore only a few Jews can be enrolled. What is necessary, the speakers argued, is to secure a definite proportion of Jews in the force by a special agreement similar to that which existed in 1921 with regard to the Palestine gendarmerie.
The Yeshiva Rabbi Zachariah Joseph Talmudical College of St. Louis, Mo., was dedicated yesterday. Preceding the dedication a parade was held. The building and sire of the Yeshiva were presented by Oscar Stein.
