Professor Sigmund Freud, the founder of psycho-analysis, and Professor Carl Landsteiner, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for 1930, have been awarded honorary membership medals by the Austrian Medical Society.

These awards do something to put right the wrongs committed against these two great men by the University of Vienna, the press here comments, in denying them full professorships for no other reason than because they are Jews.

Professor Freud, notwithstanding his immense world-wide reputation, has not yet been advanced to full professorship and when the whole world celebrated his 70th. birthday Vienna University ignored the event. Professor Landsteiner experienced years of hardship and poverty in Vienna before he went to New York on the invitation of the Rockefeller Medical Research Institute. Many other Jewish scientists and scholars who have been refused advancement to full professorships because they are Jews have left the country in despair.
