The sale and distribution of flags and banners bearing the swastika and other Nazi emblems, has been banned here by a decree issued by Ernesto P. Uruchurtu, head of the municipal government.
The ban on the distribution of Nazi insignia, which anticipated an increase in the sale of such emblems in preparation for independence celebrations, followed the publication of an editorial in the influential daily Diario de la Tarde, which expressed distress and astonishment at the fact that the government was permitting the distribution of insignia of a regime which had been at war with Mexico and which was “mankind’s greatest enemy.”
