Divorces among Jewish families in Denver average 25 per year, Dr. Alfred M. Neumann, director of the Jewish Family and Children’s Service, estimated here today in commenting on a move by the chief justice of the local Domestic Court to cut down the mounting divorce rate through professional consultation services.
Dr. Neumann, who believes that half of the divorces are among partners of mixed marriages, reports that he has been successful in preventing the break-up of homes where marriage partners have come to the consultation service for advice. In the past year, he disclosed, only four of 75 couples who came to his agency, went through with divorce plans. Denver has an overall Jewish population of 18,000 men, women and children.
